Importance of buying albums from stores that count towards music charts

Full-length 2nd album ‘Oh!’ topped Music Bank for 5 consecutive weeks!

3rd mini album ‘Hoot’ also topped Music Bank for 5 consecutive weeks!

In 2010, the girls bagged three awards from the Golden Disk Awards, including the most important Disk Daesang (Album of the Year) for Oh! and they also became the first girl group to have both Disk Daesang and Digital Daesang!

Besides that, the girls also won the Daesang from the Seoul Music Awards for the second consecutive year, with their 2nd album ‘Oh!’ and 2nd repackaged album ‘Run Devil Run’.

2010 was a meaningful year for SNSD and SONEs. 2010 was a memorable year of challenges, happiness and definitely, glory and pride. However, there are some bittersweet moments towards the end of the year when the girls obtained the Annual K-Chart Award on Music Bank and during the glorious Daesang win on the Golden Disk Awards.

Do you remember how the eight girls missed Tiffany’s presence to share the joy and happiness of winning and being on stage together as nine? These bittersweet moments were perhaps the only flaw and regret in the wonderful year.

Remember when Tiffany said that she would love to win another Daesang in an interview not long ago after missing out last year? 110630 Tiffany wants another Daesang

To prevent the regrets of last year from happening again and to keep the success going, SONEs have a pretty challenging mission to accomplish. Out of which, the most important is definitely the album sales and since a majority of SONEs are getting the albums, we have to get them in such way that it will count towards the charts.

In most major weekly music programmes, Music Bank is perhaps the one with the most transparency where we can see the allocation of points clearly. Album sales play a vital part and it will affect the chances of winning. In the music programmes with weekly charts, the allocation of points for album sales comes mainly from the sales recorded in Hanteo, Hottracks and Synnara. The album sales recorded in these three is also vitally important in the Golden Disk Awards, which collects the statistics up to only November 30th.

Hanteo, Hottracks and Synnara are the most conventional and authoritative album sales systems in Korea. Hanteo charts display the real-time album sales while Hottracks displays the album sales in overall percentages. However, unlike the other two, Synnara does not reveal actual album sales results. Meanwhile, you may have heard of the Gaon Chart but when compiling results for weekly music charts for music programmes, statistics from Gaon Charts are not included.

Most recommended places of album purchases (sales to be double-reflected in Hanteo charts, Synnara or Hottracks):

Synnara online stores (sales in physical stores not confirmed to affect the charts) and Hottracks physical stores (but has a complicated statistics system where sales may not be reflected accurately).

Next recommended places of album purchases (sales to be reflected directly in Hanteo charts):

    리스뮤직(Leesmusic)

    애플뮤직(Apple Music)

    온라인교보문고(Kyobo Book Centre/Kyobo Mungo)

Sales to be reflected in Hanteo charts but inclusion of statistics may be incomplete:

    Yes24

    알라딘(Aladin)

    인터파크도서(Interpark Book)

    시디박스cdbox

    쿨트랙스

    리브로(Libro)

    레코드포럼(Record Forum)

    올랜(Olen)

    에반레코드(Evan Record)

    바탕뮤직(batangmusic.co.kr)

*Purchases made in Yesasia may or may not count towards the Hanteo Chart because the officials in Hanteo are not willing to reveal the list of sellers contributing to their chart and K-sones are unsure of it either.

*Purchases made in G-Market are calculated in the Gaon Chart but it is NOT recorded in the Hanteo Charts so it will not help to boost the sales volume in Hanteo.

*Purchases from Dvdheaven.com MIGHT NOT count towards Hanteo Chart.

Note: The above information is purely for references only. The list of stores that count towards the chart MAY NOT be limited to the above.

Everyone has different financial limitations so not everyone has to buy multiple copies to show their support. Even the sales of one album is significant and may make all the difference in the world to the final result. But while we're buying the albums, let us try to buy from a seller/store that counts towards the charts.

*We strongly advice readers to participate in group purchase projects that would ensure sales being counted in Hanteo and Gaon charts. If you have representative in your areas who are participating in such projects, please coordinate with them on your purchases. Otherwise for those who wanted to contribute for the sales individually, please select the correct shops when making your purchases.
