On October 23rd, SNSD attended the ‘2011 SMTOWN Live in New York’ concert held at the famous Madison Square Garden in New York. The event also managed to attract local public attention since it was especially noticeable that one of New York’s media, the NY Daily News, published an article titled ‘The Korean invasion: New Yorkers are screaming for the new wave of pop stars’, which attached a full-page photo of Sooyoung, showing the anticipation from the media. Madison Square Garden is a well-known concert venue, where world-class pop stars such as Michael Jackson, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga held their concerts previously. This is also the first time any Asian singers has held a concert here and all 15,000 seats were sold out, indicating the singers’ popularity so it is no wonder that the local media has their attention to it.

After the concert, SNSD will be releasing ‘The Boys’ as a single album in November through Interscope Records, the biggest record label under Universal Music. After the release of ‘The Boys’ on October 19th, it is ranked 64th on the US iTunes, with its music video exceeding 10 million views on Youtube in 110 hours. While these received much attention, producer for ‘The Boys’ – Teddy Riley sang praises of the girls and further commented through his Twitter, “SNSD is going to do well”, leading to an increase in anticipation.
